Georgia Golf Hall of Famer Tommy Aaron reminisces about his win at the 1973 Masters Tournament
Tommy Aaron of Gainesville became the first Georgian to capture The Masters Tournament with his come-from-behind victory in 1973. Aaron, who led or co-led after the first two rounds, began the final round four shots back before birdies on his first three holes put him right back into the mix.
After going out in 32 (-4), Aaron made back-to-back bogeys on No. 10 and 11 and put his chances back in doubt. But the self-trained Aaron closed strong going two-under over his final seven holes to win by one over J.C. Snead.
Take a look back at the sit-down interview the GSGA conducted with Aaron in the spring of 2023 to relive his one shining moment on the 50th anniversary of his major victory.
