On this day in 2008, Jeff Knox won his first of two Georgia Mid-Amateur Championships.  Knox is a native of Thomson, Georgia and is an accomplished amateur who won the 1998 Azalea Invitational, the 1999 Peach Blossom Invitational, and is a two-time winner of the Charlie Coe Invitational. Knox solidified himself as one of Georgia's best amateurs after winning the two Georgia Mid-Am Championships back-to-back (2008, 2009). As a long time member of Augusta National, Knox is known for his course expertise and is frequently sought after by elite players such as Phil Mickelson and Rory Mcilroy in the days leading up to the Masters Tournament.  Knox is the executive director of the Knox Foundation, a non-profit that provides millions of dollars to organizations in the Augusta area. He was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in 2017.
