On this day in 1984, Hollis Stacy won the 1984 U.S. Women's Open. A local of Savannah, she became the youngest player to win the U.S. Girls Junior Championship at the age of 15 in 1969, later winning the 1970 and 1971 championships, becoming the only player to win the event three consecutive times. Stacy was a member of the victorious 1972 Curtis Cup team. She joined the LPGA Tour in 1974 and would win 17 times over her career, including three U.S. Women's Opens and the Peter Jackson Classic in 1983. Stacy was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in 1991.
