On this day in 1999, the University of Georgia, coached by Chris Haack, won the 1999 NCAA National Championship.  Haack played collegiate golf at the University of West Georgia.  After graduation, he  worked as a tournament director for the American Junior Golf Association, later working as the assistant executive director.  When he was hired as the head golf coach by the University of Georgia in 1998, the program saw an immediate turnaround, winning the program's first SEC title since 1988.  1999 was the breakthrough year for Haack when the team won the programs first national title.  The program has continued to ascend to new heights under Haack's tutelage; adding another national title in 2005.  His teams have won a total of 8 SEC Championships, and his players have won 70 All-American awards.  He was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in 2016.
