St. Simmons Island - The year has just begun, and we’ve already crowned our first champions of 2025! The Georgia Mixed Team Championship brought teams of one man and one woman to Sea Island Golf Club for a competitive weekend on the coast.
This year’s format featured a modified alternate shot on the Plantation Course for round one, followed by a best ball format on the Seaside Course for the final round. The event took place February 1-2.
Matt Oxford of Rocky Face and Sydney Weaver of Columbus (pictured to the left) successfully defended their title from last year, winning the Gross Division with a 5-under-par 137. They opened with a 3-under-par 69 in round one, finishing the day tied for the lead with Kevin Duffy of Suwanee and Maddy Shultz of Alpharetta.
On the final day, Oxford and Weaver carded a 4-under-par 68 in four-ball stroke play, securing a three-stroke victory.
In the Net Division, Myunki and Jaehwa Yi of Duluth (pictured to the right) took home the title in the net division, finishing at 11-under-par 131 (65-66).
