Atlanta - It's May and the golf season is beginning to heat up! We've had an exciting season so far and are looking forward to a great summer and showcase the exceptional golf in Georgia!
New for 2024, the competitive season will culminate with the inaugural C. Layne Williams Invitational. Based on the popular Sandbelt Invitational held annually in Australia. Players from 10 different categories will earn invitations to this one-of-a-kind event that showcases the talents from players of all ages and genders. Round one will be held at Atlanta Athletic Club and the final round will be contested at Bobby Jones Golf Course.
Named after long-time GSGA staffer and Georgia Golf Hall of Fame member, Layne Williams made a tremendous impact on the game of golf in Georgia. Through his 30 year career, Williams acted as the Official-in-charge at over 250 GSGA competitions and was on the rules committees of almost 60 USGA championships.
Player invitation categories include Men and Women, Mid-Am Men and Women, Senior Men and Women, Super Senior Men and Women and both Junior Boys and Girls’. GSGA Player of the Year Points are accumulated throughout the season in GSGA competitions and invitations for this event are based off various preexisting GSGA Player of the Year categories.
