ATLANTA - Last friday, we were thrilled to announce that the GSGA and Atlanta Country Club have entered into a long-term agreement for the club to host the 104th Georgia Amateur that will be played on June 12-15, 2025.
"The rich history of hosting major championship golf on both the amateur and professional levels further support the club’s vision and mission, and we are excited to play a significant role in the club’s future over the next decade," Jeff Fages, GSGA's Senior Director of Rules and Competitions, said. "The hospitality and experience the club is committed to providing our members and competitors will be unrivaled as we both aim to create lifelong golf memories."
Atlanta Country Club has a deep history of hosting the game's best from the amateur and professional ranks. The club hosted the popular Atlanta Classic on the PGA TOUR from 1967-1996 and the inaugural THE PLAYERS Championship in 1974 (known then as Tournament Players Championship), along with the 1968 U.S. Senior Amateur and 1971 U.S. Women's Amateur.
"For Atlanta Country Club, it means everything to host the Georgia Amateur," Darren DeVore, President of Atlanta Country Club, said. "Atlanta Country Club was founded to host major championships, and we have a long history of doing that.
"To be able to do that across the board supporting junior golf - which is where the future of golf is going to come - and women's golf - which is where the game is growing not only in our state and nationally but globally - and participate across all ages and men and women is something that is really important to our club."
Atlanta Country Club consistently ranks among the top 10 courses in the Peach State by various publications and at various points of its history has been considered among the top 100 in the country. The club recently went through a renovation behind the work of architect Beau Welling.
"Our commitment is to be part of the growth of the game," Ralph Stokes, GSGA President and Atlanta Country Club member, said. "We have something special here at Atlanta Country Club, and we want to share it with the community which we hope will get more people in Georgia excited about the game of golf and help grow the game within our state."
