ATLANTA - The teams of Erin Packer and Ivy Shepard of Peachtree City and Danielle Davis of St. Simons Island and Kristyl Sunderman of McDonough emerged victorious at the Georgia Women's Four-Ball and Georgia Senior Women's Four-Ball Championships held at Canongate I, in Sharpsburg, Georgia, on May 29th and 30th.
Shepard and Packer began the first round with a bit of a slow start, but a string of birdies on holes 6 and 7 vaulted them into the lead. The pair finished the day at five-under, leading the pack by three strokes. Opening the final round, Shepard and Packer didn't skip a beat from round one, beginning their final round with four birdies in their first seven holes. The team from Peachtree City would cruise to a nine shot victory over Chanley Box of St. Simons Island and Jadin Ware of Dahlonega, who finished at one-under. Shepard previously won the inaugural Georgia Women's Four-Ball Championship in 2022, teaming up with Kate Owens of Suwannee. Packer, who has competed in ten USGA championships will add the 2024 Georgia Women's Four-Ball to her trophy case. Rounding out the top three finishers in the championship were Nikki Elmore of Alpharetta and Sydney Weaver of Atlanta who finished at even par.
Davis and Sunderman began their first round with three birdies through the first three holes, finishing the day with a 66, good enough for a one stroke lead over Lisa Short of Atlanta and Kristine Berger of Statham. Davis and Sunderman would began their final round with three birdies through the first four holes; stretching their lead to four strokes, Davis and Sunderman finished with a 66 to finish at 14-under to win the 2024 Georgia Senior Women's Four-Ball Championship. Short and Berger finished in second place at nine-under and Deb Jackson of Johns Creek and Shelly White of Atlanta finished in third place at four-under.
In the second flight of the Senior Women's Four-Ball Championship, Angie Lee and Dorenda Weaver of Columbus won the top prize after finishing at three-over. Betsy Butler and Farah Reynolds of Atlanta and Susan Clonts of Newnan and Beth Shepard of Woodbury finished tied for second at five-over.
Beginning the day with a three shot deficit, Katrina Parker of Hiram and Gwen Moran of Douglasville finished with a 74 in the final round to win the third senior flight. Linda Caruso of Marietta and Linda Caruso of Smyrna and Amy Lavinder and Claudia Pelc of Peachtree City tied for second in their flight at twelve-over.
