Describe your first memory of the Masters Tournament.
Nate Gahman (2022 and 2023 Georgia Mid Am Champion): "My first Masters memory was when I was probably 13 years old and going to a short game clinic in Columbus taught by Larry Mize. I was in my infancy of golf knowledge and had no idea the magnitude of his win. Later at home, I watched the highlight videos of his chip in to win the playoff, and I’m still glad to call Larry a friend. He is always such a genuine person when I run into him, and I’ll always have that memory with me."
Sarah Gallagher (2023 Georgia Women's Mid-Amateur and Senior Champion): "My earliest Masters memory is watching Jack’s final round in 1986. I remember thinking it was the most incredible round of golf I’d ever seen."
Jack Larkin (2023 Georgia Senior Champion): " Seeing it on TV with all the amazing beauty. Everything was so green and the azaleas and dogwoods were so colorful. It just looked like a magical place."
Mary Miller (2023 Georgia Women's Match Play and Girls' Champion): "My first memory of the Masters Tournament is watching it on TV with my family."
Jake Peacock (2023 Georgia Amateur Champion): "My first memory that I can vividly remember from the Masters Tournament is when I won [my age division at the] 2015 Drive, Chip and Putt the Easter Sunday before.
Favorite hole at Augusta National and why?
Gahman - "My favorite hole has got to be number 13. In my opinion, this hole begins the chaos that is Sunday at the Masters. Two-shot swings can happen on this hole so easily, so anyone within 3-4 shots of the lead can begin their charge here."
Gallagher - "My favorite hole is number 12. Over the years there have been so many great shots and great moments on this hole. Like when Fred Couples left it short right in the 1992 Masters and it stayed up. He got up-and-down for par to keep his two-shot lead."
Larkin - "No. 18 because it is so difficult. You have to drive it up a shoot, and you have to either leave it short of the cavernous bunker on the left or cut off that bunker to get it in the fairway. Of course, if you cut it too much it's in the trees on the right. Not much room for error."
Miller - "My favorite hole is number 18, which is where I made my final putt in the 2022 Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals."
Peacock - "My favorite hole has got to be Golden Bell - the 12th hole. So much drama there every year and arguably the most beautiful hole in all of golf."
What makes the tournament special to you?
Gahman - "The tradition and originality of everything that week is what I love about it. The Masters itself is enough. No flashiness, loud music or sideshows to draw attention—just pure GOLF. You can tell that it’s almost every player’s favorite event, so it’s fun to see how the big dogs handle the pressure. Golf isn’t like football or baseball where the team that 'wants it more,' wins—no, golf is too meticulous. The 'I don’t care where I finish' guys often outperform the guys who circle this week on the calendar."
Gallagher - "I think everything about Augusta National and the Masters is magical. I have so many great memories watching the tournament with my mom, dad and brother. It was always something we did as a family. Today, watching is something I schedule my day around and now I’m getting to enjoy it with my son."
Larkin - "The tournament is so special to me in so many ways. First, it is a major tournament that is in Georgia (love that). Second, it really signals the start of the golf season, and it seems to get everyone fired up for golf going forward. Third, I was able to play there for the first time as a freshman at UGA, and that was an amazing treat. Fourth, the fact that Bobby Jones was so instrumental in creating the golf course, and subsequently the tournament, is just a great part of history that I love."
Miller - "This tournament is special to me because it’s a major championship that is hosted in my home state every year."
Peacock - "The simplicity of everything on property. The lush green grass to the heavy hills. What tops it all is the egg salad."
What would be on your Champions Dinner menu?
Gahman - "I’d have to go with ribeye and scallops, creamed spinach, lobster mac and some red velvet cake and ice cream for dessert."
Gallagher - "Caesar salad, filet, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Danish layer cake for desert."
Larkin - "Wow, the options here are incredible. I guess I would have filet mignon, a crisp salad with avocado and bacon, spicy sweet potato spears and a big, rich red wine."
Miller - "I would have filet mignon, loaded baked potato, green beans and crème brûlée."
Peacock - "Sushi, Texas Roadhouse rolls and chocolate ice cream."
Favorite Masters Memory?
Gahman - "My favorite moment has to be when Tiger won in 2019. I was standing in front of my TV as he was walking up to the 18th green with a tear running down my face. It was just his week. When Molinari dumped it in the water on 12, I told my wife Tiger is going to actually win this thing. I am getting chills thinking about it as I type now. There will never be a cooler moment in golf."
Gallagher - "My favorite masters memory was Ben Crenshaw’s win in 1995. He was one of my childhood heroes. His birdies at 16, 17 were so clutch with all the emotions he was experiencing after losing Harvey Penick."
Larkin - "Jeff Knox beating so many of the best players in the world when he would play with them as the marker."
Miller - "My favorite Masters memory was riding down Magnolia Lane with my family for the first time."
Peacock - "Tiger winning in 2019."
