We want you back!
Did you recently receive this postcard or e-mail? Not sure why? Please read below for answers to frequently-asked questions regarding GSGA membership renewal.
Q: Why did I receive a postcard?
A: GSGA membership is on a calendar year basis. At the end of the calendar year, many clubs clean out their handicap roster for administrative reasons. If you did not renew your GSGA membership by the end of last year, it is possible your home club deleted your name from its handicap list.
Q: I've already renewed my membership for the current calendar year, why did I receive a postcard?
A: If you renewed your membership anytime after March 1 of this current year, please disregard the notice. If you renewed your membership prior to March 1 and still received a postcard, it's possible your name may be duplicated in the membership database or some other "glitch" may have occurred. If you feel this is the case, please click here to email the GSGA and we will investigate our database to resolve the issue. If you have moved out of state and no longer wish to continue your membership, click here to inform the GSGA and we will make the proper notation in our records.
Q: I've renewed my membership, why did I not get a new handicap index in the last revision?
A: After you've renewed your membership, it generally takes a month for the system to revise your handicap index. You are still able to post scores during this period, but, in most cases, you will not receive a handicap revision until the second revision date after you've renewed your membership. Click here to view this year's Handicap Revision Schedule.
Q: What is the diiference between the blue and gold postcards?
A: If you received a gold postcard, it's because your home club (where you maintained your handicap) closed or discontinued its GSGA membership during the previous year. To maintain your handicap and reinstate all your other GSGA member benefits, please use our "Join GSGA Now!" feature on the front page of the GSGA web site, or visit another club near your work or home to have your GSGA membership transferred there. Be sure to give your new club the GSGA/GHIN number on the front of your postcard (or top of your email) to ensure all your previous scoring records are transferred as well.
Q: Why should I renew my membership?
A: GSGA membership includes the GHIN handicap service, a subscription to Golf Georgia magazine, eligibility for GSGA competitions and an awards program for feats such as holes-in-one, club champions and most-improved golfers. Additionally, your membership helps support the GSGA's programs that benefit all golfers in Georgia, including course rating and measuring, scholarships for club employees and future superintendents, tournament and rules assistance to clubs and industry advocacy efforts to protect and grow the game.
Q: Can I renew online?
A: At this time, no. To re-activate your membership, you must visit your home club and renew in person. GSGA is currently offering an online membership option for new members only (or for members whose golf club has closed or cancelled its GSGA membership). If you submit an online application for a renewal, it will not be processed.
Q: Once I'm a member and/or renewed, what features can I access via email or over the internet?
A: Many GSGA members enjoy using Internet Score Posting, eRevisions and, to enter GSGA competitions, Online Registration. The USGA Handicap System and GSGA allow members to occasionally post scores via the Internet. The eRevisions service allows members to receive their handicap revisions via e-mail.
