Point Standings

The GSGA began its popular Junior Sectional Program in 1974 with the goal of giving young golfers in Georgia what likely is their first opportunity to compete and enjoy competitive golf. This program consists of a series of four or five one-day tournaments during June and July in each of the seven geographic sections in the state which are established for the Junior Sectional Program. At the conclusion of the series, the top point earners in each age group from each section qualify to participate in the two-day Junior Sectional Challenge Match in late July.

The Junior Sectional Program began back in the summer of 1974. That first summer the GSGA provided competitions for over 2,000 juniors. For several years the state was divided into eight sections, having at least four events in each secton. In 1998 it was decided that Atlanta would no longer be a section. Currently we have seven sections in the state of Georgia.

Players compete for an accumulation of points to earn a berth to the state sectional challenge match. There are generally over 1,600 participants statewide and a portion of them qualify for the Challenge Match.

The Junior Sectional Program is open to male and female juniors under 19 years of age. Entrants must not have reached their 19th birthday on or before the first Junior Sectional Program event and have not started college. Entrants must be residents of Georgia and play at a GSGA Member Club.

Players may participate in events in ANY section, but they are only eligible for points and prizes in their own section's events.
